F.A.Q – Frequently Asked Questions

Containers are rented out month-to-month, with a minimum one month rental period. All containers require a delivery and pick up fee.

Our shipping containers, also called cargo containers, sea containers, and Conex boxes, are standard-sized durable, closed rectangular boxes with the strength suitable to withstand shipment, storage, and handling while being used to transport goods around the globe in all conditions. Our shipping containers are made from high-quality, corrugated steel and meet international shipping size, strength, and durability requirements.

Our container walls are made from corrugated steel panels welded to the main structure and the top and bottom side rails and end frames are tubular steel. The main weight bearing components of the containers are the four corner posts that also have corner castings at the top and bottom for stacking and lifting purposes. Containers are manufactured with a set of doors at one end that seal tightly and can be locked. All container doors utilize the same mechanics to open, close and seal. Container floors are made of marine plywood and are supported by steel crossmembers.

All our containers were constructed according to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) specifications and standards that ensure the consistent loading, transportation, and unloading of goods in ports around the world. ISO standardization also requires that containers meet the size and durability requirements to allow them to stack safely and uniformly on ships and trains. ISO regulations guarantee that containers can withstand extreme environments endured during transport as well as possess the structural integrity needed to be lifted by cranes or other heavy equipment.

Bozeman Portable Storage does not use wood or plastic containers. All our containers are of solid steel construction and are weatherproof and able to withstand extreme weather conditions.

Bozeman Portable Storage has no insurance requirements for storage container rentals. It is up to the customer to insure the contents of their container(s). Bozeman Portable Storage is not liable for the content of the containers.

We deliver our containers on a tilt bed truck. The driver tilts the bed up, and the container touches the ground. The driver then drives out from under the container. The delivery site needs to allow for 20’’ of overhead clearance to accommodate the container on top of the tilt bed trailer. To get out from under the container, the driver needs at least the length of the container and the tilt bed truck, in a straight line. We need at least 60 feet for a 20’ container and a 100 feet for a 40’ container. The loaded tilt bed truck requires 12-foot wide clearance.

When we arrange delivery of your container, we will ask you what direction the cargo or other doors should face on your site so that we may load it accordingly onto our tilt bed truck.

A 20’ portable storage container is large enough to maintain the files of a mid-sized company, or the entirety of the contents of a smaller home. A unit this size is often found on construction sites housing power tools, scaffolding, and other types of equipment.

A 40’ container contains enough room to secure the furnishings of a medium to large home. Larger businesses will find the 40’ unit just right for storing excess materials, inventory, or maintenance equipment.
